Gifts of the Magi
"When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, Where is the new born king of the Jews? We saw his star rising and have come to do him homage."(Matthew 2)
The needs are simple and increasingly broad. They involve basics like having a roof over one's head, food, medicine, a place to sleep and a bit of warmth. But for many persons in our communities, these very basics have become near luxuries.
Gifts of the Magi is a cooperative effort between Catholic Charities SouthWestern Ohio, the Archdiocesan Council of St Vincent de Paul, and The Catholic Telegraph. Since 1993 the program has provided assistance to persons or families that will strengthen their ability to care for themselves, enhance their stability and security, and improve their quality of life or their ability to contribute to the community. All assistance is given through a church, St Vincent de Paul conference or other nonprofit group who can provide ongoing direction, support and guidance for the family.
