The 2009 APOP Chili Cook-off, held March 8, 2009 at the Purcell K of C Hall in Cheviot, was a huge success! Over 200 people were on hand to sample chili and help support the Adoptive Parents Outreach Program of Catholic Charities SouthWestern Ohio. Mary Beth Bedel won first place for her special brand of chili. There was a tie for second place between Rick Breitbeil and Rich Smith.
Judges for the contest were Abraham Lincoln, former Cincinnati Bengal David Fulcher, UC assistant football coach Kerry Coombs, and Cincinnati city councilman Chris Monzel. Thank you to all the companies and individuals who donated items for the silent auction. A special thanks to the Forest Park Skyline, the Purcell Knights of Columbus, Rally’s, and the Anchor Home Company for their food and facility donations.
