2008 Su Casa Silent Auction & Awards Dinner
Su Casa Hispanic Center is hosting the Ninth Annual Su Casa Awards Dinner and Silent Auction on Tuesday, April 22 beginning at 6 p.m. at Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University. Mr. Sean Rugless, the new President of the Greater Cincinnati African American Chamber of Commerce, is the keynote speaker for the event.
This event is the major fundraiser for Su Casa Hispanic Center, which is celebrating its eleventh year of serving the Hispanic/Latino population of this region. This year’s event features an expanded silent auction highlighting the many cultural events and happenings that are a part of the Greater Cincinnati region. Ethnic dancers from Peru will also provide roving entertainment.

The highlight of the evening is the awards ceremony. Su Casa Hispanic Center is presenting four awards to individuals and agencies that have made a significant contribution to the Greater Cincinnati Hispanic and Latino communities. Among the winners is Fr. Joseph Nelson, one of the original founders of the Su Casa, who is receiving the Cesar Chavez Award.
The award winners for 2008 are:
- Cesar Chavez Award: Fr. Joe Nelson
- Su Casa Volunteer Award: Mr. Bob Cloud
- Su Casa Corporate Award: Society of St. Vincent de Paul
- Beyond Our Borders Award: Shriners Hospital for Children
